Frenectomy: patient guide
A frenectomy releases or removes a tight band of tissue (the frenulum) under the tongue or the lip that limits movement or pulls on the gum. It is a short procedure done the same day under local anaesthetic, and healing usually takes about 6–8 days. This guide explains each step and how to look after the area.
